…the first Oasis Women’s Day is fast approaching. The event is this Saturday 24th September, 9.15am, at St Swithin’s House, Barston, Solihull, B92 0JU. We are really excited by all the day has in store for the 40 of us already booked in, as we meet together for worship, prayer, teaching and fellowship.
We have been praying for those who are coming, that God will meet with you and that you will draw deeper into Him. It is my heart that we will build a community where all women know they are welcome and where we support one another in God.
If you are coming, please remember to bring your bible, a notebook, pen and your food contribution. I hope I have not over done it on the cakes! Also, don’t forget the book stall – you may wish to bring some cash or a cheque with you.
If you have not booked in but would like to come, it is not to late to come, please drop us a quick e-mail. You will be very welcome.

Our big launch will be Saturday 24th September at St Swithin’s House, Barston, Solihull. http://stswithinshouse.co.uk/ We will be self-catering. The food will be simple but very good. There will be worship, ministry, prayer, seminars and space where you can get alone with God if that’s what you need. Our Father just loves one on one time with his daughters! There will also be opportunity to sign up to be involved in discipleship.
The theme of the first session is “Free to be YOU in Christ Jesus”. We will look at what God is calling us to, what hinders us and how to live in the freedom God gives us. It’s all about embracing the stage you are in, in your life. Optional seminars may look at such issues as
Being free to be …
…yourself as a mother
…yourself at work
…yourself in serving
…yourself in your relationship with God
…free of the past
I thought I would write down the vision God has laid on my heart for Oasis Women’s Ministries.
The aim is that women are free to be all that God has for them. So often we limit ourselves or think that others limit us and this is not God’s plan.
Last summer I felt God challenge me directly on the issue of discipleship. He asked me ‘Who are you discipling now?’ and the answer was no one really. This stayed as a weight on my heart. I spoke to some of the leaders in Oasis but there was no particular avenue through which to channel this. Deborah Grey challenged me further by asking whether God was just speaking to me personally or whether this has wider implications for Oasis. ‘Just me’ I replied naively.
As I waited and thought and prayed I had a growing conviction that God was leading me to a bigger picture. Titus 2 v3-5 says “teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”
A slightly cringy passage in this day and age perhaps? Actually I discovered that many of the women in Oasis would like someone to walk alongside them and encourage them in their walk with God. Others would love to get alongside other women but are not really sure how to build these relationships. Over the years I have has a number of what I would call co-dicsipleship relationships where I have met up with women to encourage or to be encouraged. In every case we both learn from the other, no matter who the more mature woman was supposed to be. In other words, as we seek to disciple others, God always speaks to us and deals with our own heart.
Proverbs 27 v17 says “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
So watch this space as we begin to workout this vision.

This is not to be missed! At Mobilise, the students and 20s from newfrontiers churches across the country get together to celebrate Jesus. We join with the Newfrontiers leadership conference and people from over 40 nations to worship God, hear what He is doing across the world, listen to great teaching and generally get excited about Jesus. This happens in Brighton and we’ll all be staying together – it is a seriously brilliant week.
