Bridge House Update

Here are some brief stories of what has been going on for residents at The Bridge recently:

One of our male residents of seven months is all set to move out positively next month.  He is due to start a new life with his partner up in Edinburgh and is having job interviews and getting support in place up there this week.  He has got stuck in with the recovery programme and the house community and we want to wish him well for the future.

We are also very pleased to have recently moved four residents into our ‘second-phase’ house and they are settling in well with the lower level support there.  This house acts as a staging post for getting back into living independently in the community again and we are thrilled to see so many residents making this positive move.  It’s a massive encouragement to see those we support starting to build new and hopeful lives after they come to us with little hope for their future.

Occasionally we see residents give up on their recovery, or get evicted from The Bridge.  This is probably the worst part of the work we do, so it is a great encouragement when we see those residents come back to re-engage again.  We were pleased to welcome one ex-resident back earlier this month and have heard recently from another who wants to return to the Bridge in the near future.  It speaks volumes of the feeling of being accepted here as well as testifying that often what The Bridge offers is exactly what residents recognise they need.
