…sorry for late notice but the prayer topics have switched for today we prayed for the world of momentum this morning and will be praying for ‘Breakthrough’ tonight at 8pm. I know this last session last time was one not to miss!

Starts on Monday 26th September through to Friday 30th September at the Oasis suite in Edgbaston Cricket Ground. We will be meeting at 6.30am and 8pm daily.

There was no limping across the line through our last session rather a sprint as we exploded in prayer for break through. The time went exceptionally quickly as we gave ourselves to praying for break through in…

…healing both physical, mental and emotional

As we gave ourselves God was quick to encourage us to…

…live dependently  on the Spirit through a picture of someone riding a horse: why settle for two legs when you can have four

…make the most of every opportunity. That part of God’s answer to break through is to use us in the relationships we have to give words of encouragement, love and kindness

What an amazing way to finish week and through it all everyone left with this great sense of joy…a joy in the journey!

In order to do all we believe we need to to do we need to resources, therefore in this session we gave ourselves to asking our Father for all we need who loves to graciously give us all that we need. We therefore gave ourselves to asking for…

…people

…building

We love Birmingham and one of the best ways to show this love is to pray for this fantastic City!

We used Jeremiah 29: 7 as our launch pad to pray for the peace and prosperity of the city in respect to…

…commerce

…justice

…arts and cretaivity

…families and people groups

…education

From this starting point we then got to pray in to the many ways God is using different people within Oasis within these areas.

It is also such a privilege to know we are not alone and so we got the great honour of praying for some of those who partner in the city:

Vineyard:

1. We’ve seen more people coming to faith on Sundays recently – Pray for an increase in that

2. City Pastors initiative: People who offer pastoral support from 10pm-3am on Broad Street

3. Launch of night stop – Housing troubled teenagers. 20 host families needed

Churchcentral:

1. Have 2 sites looking to launch 3rd in Erdington in Autumn…people to make it viable

2. Alpha just started connected with Aston Uni with 47. Similar number in Selly Oak with 3 saved already…pray for salvation

3. Money to take on a 3rd member of staff

Birmingham Christian Centre: Gather over 1000

1.    New Christian who are new to church that they deepen and grow

2.    Buy in of mature believers to not just sit and receive

The Crown Church:

1.    New people within the church to strengthen leadership

2.     Growth and an increase in people being healed

3.    Lady they send to Taj struggling with language and sleep

Riverside Church:

1.    Theatre production they are putting on as a church of the hiding place this Saturday – have sold 400 tickets loads of unbelievers going

2.    New students for school of performing arts

3.    God to show small groups ways forward in mission

…the time flew past!

Felt like an early morning this morning but one worth getting up for as we got to pray for our 20’s and the gig night we run in the city ‘impact’. In a city where 45% of the population are under the age of 30 it is always good to pray!

It was great to get to pray for…

…the numbers of new people within this age around the church

…the culture that ‘impact’ is revealing in the pub we run and those who attend and perform

…the number of 20’s involved in Street teams

…the momentum weekend away

…that those in their 20’s wouldn’t see that the potential exploits they can have in the city are in the future but now

Our starting point for this session was the reminder from Becky Webb from John 17 that as we demonstrate community it reveals the community that God enjoys. From this privileged position we then took on the responsibility of praying for the community we are and want to be. Praying for…

…the  small groups we have for and all those involved

…the leaders of small groups

…new small groups

…our small groups to be places of growth in God, places where people are truly known and encouragement to reach out

…that as we get bigger we will always get smaller

…our small groups to be places where we experience the power of the Holy Spirit

As we gave ourselves to pray God encouraged us with a picture of springs breaking out across the city which lead to areas becoming flooded…we are to see our small groups like this

We thank God so much for the kids and youth we have in the church and this session allowed us an opportunity to do just that and to ask God for more. We were therefore able to give ourselves to praying for…

…our different kids activities and those involved in youth

…those involved in running the groups

…parents

…that all kids and youth would come in to living relationship with Jesus and then seek to reveal it in the worlds they are in

…the large number of older youth not connected to the church directly who go along to Monday night football

…growth in the numbers we have and specifically in to an encouragement that had been given to believe God for 200 youth

It is always a privilege to get to pray for the nations within our prayer week and this session was no exception. It was great to pray for Jesus to be lifted high as we gave ourselves to praying for…

…friends from Oasis who are now in other nations specifically the Stunt family

…for our friends in newfrontiers in other nations

…for all that is going on in the Middle East at the moment

…and for the nations on our door step in Birmingham

As we gave ourselves to prayer God encouraged us that…

…praying for the nations is part of enjoying the journey, as it reminds us: a. we have faith in a God who is over the nations which gives faith for the situations we are facing b. we are part of a far greater story that is God’s story throughout the world

…we are called to live as a church as many different cultures not just one

…the call to live for Birmingham, the nation and the nations isn’t to be seen as a logical progression but rather is to be mixed up so that as we are giving ourselves to one we understand it impacts the others.
