Week of prayer session 4…
Session 4 of our week of prayer saw us praying for another area of growth in Oasis: Kids & Youth. In the past when we have gathered to pray for this area of the church, we have started at the younger end of the spectrum (with babies in creche!) and worked through the ages towards youth. This time, however, after starting by praying about the bigger picture of youth in Birmingham as a whole, we continued to pray for youth for the whole time! And what a great time we had!
The thrust of our prayers was for our youth to be confident, secure and passionate witnesses for Christ amongst their school friends and within their family contexts. Boldness and courage was prayed for, alongside the need for absolute acceptance and love to be shown irrespective of circumstance or background. We asked God for gifts of faith to pray for things bigger than we could imagine, and ended up surprised how we prayed for our youth to have such a massive impact on the city!
Catherine Wood in particular shared a prophetc word centred on the idea of “connectivity”. Connectivity of our youth to Oasis as a whole..seeeing themselves as part of the whole not separate form the whole…but also connectivity to those still outside any understanding of the Christian faith.
We left with a strong sense of God’s hand being on the expansion of our youth work, and the maturing of our youth into confident disciples of Christ!
